Still working...

(With a TLDR at the end for those of you who hate intros)

One thing that has been repeated over and over to me in my writing classes by the teachers who were worth a damn is: “Everything has been done before,” when I was first told this I was upset. My ideas were new, fresh and original, how dare my professor imply otherwise. But with time I realized that every concept has been done before. A woman drowning at sea, who falls in love with the sea monster who was supposed to eat her, done before. Grumpy office worker who leads a dull life, done before. A super powered cat saving the world, done before. A mushroom contemplating the complexities of  life, it’s out there somewhere. The hot new concepts that we see on the shelves today are the unheard of concepts that got popular. It’s not the concept, it’s the “how” how is it done? And is it done well?

Which brings me to starting this blog. I’ve wanted to start blogging for over four years now (that’s when I made this account after all). But I was always caught up in the “what” it was going to be about. In reality, I always knew what: My writing journey. But that had been done before, people were probably tired of it. So what else do I have to talk about? My cat? Sure I guess I could write a blog on the adventures I believe my cat is having while I am away and that would be a fun idea, but how many adventures could I really come up with after a long hard day at work? And she’s nine years old at the time that I am writing this. If she died of old age right in the middle of the main story line, do I continue on or write the blog from the setting of kitty heaven / after life? I might still do that idea, but I believe that the blog topic that will serve best is my writing journey. That was the original title of this blog: “The Journey” but that’s frankly just too lame, hence why I changed it.

Now without further ado, let me get into this blog. Here’s my plan, so you know what you are getting into: I am going to talk about my life as I try to make it as a successful author with little side tracks or side missions, if you will, about life things that most writers don’t go into detail about. Like most writings this blog might very well start breathing life on its own and decide it is going to go in a different direction so I will be along for the ride just as you are.

TLDR: I struggled coming up with a topic for this, settled on my writing journey with the hope I can do it well since it’s been done before but I will allow side mission posts about life things.
